"I found the Value Based Leadership programme both thought provoking and emotionally stimulating. Since attending the programme I feel more confident. I now have a clearer vision of my own personal career path and how I may achieve that."

We support our people with coprehensive training and development. This includes technical courses for our trainees, continuing professional development, specialist training in our core sectors and service streams, and a broad range of courses in commercial, managerial and leadership skills. We use a mix of classroom, modular, distance and e-learning techniques and nobody – at any level in the organisation – ever stops learning. |
The quality of our training is evident in our consistently high success rates in professional exams. For example, our people achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the ATT exams in May 2007.
This year training and development will be managed under a new structure – the BDO Stoy Hayward Academy – to ensure that training is closely geared to our strategic goals and to delivering an outstanding client experience.
Client satisfaction is also the focus of initiatives such as the Key Account Management programme, run jointly by our HR and Marketing teams. Built around real-life client issues, this is designed to help our people address client expectations and challenges more effectively. The programme has won very positive responses from staff and clients alike and is now fully integrated into our national client service programme.
We believe that our people should experience different cultures and working environments, so staff development is an increasingly international business. The number of people on secondment to other Member Firms in our global network is running at record levels: typically around 20 employees will be on secondment elsewhere in the international network for periods ranging from three months to a couple of years. Inbound secondments are running at similar levels, helping to make BDO International a true network of personal relationships. We are also developing a number of global and regional training programmes.
