We ran a baseline environmental audit covering our impact in 2005/06. To engage our people in this work and ensure that we took full account of our environmental impact, we included a calculation of the carbon impact of our staff's commutes to and from work: we were pleased with the response rate to our research on this. Having now completed a more robust audit for 2006/07, we can begin to track our progress.

As an office-based business our main environmental impacts are energy and travel. In 2006/07 our total carbon dioxide emissions were 11,447 tonnes, which equates to 3.6 tonnes per employee.

Following an employee vote, we are at the final stage of evaluating offset projects. Since making the decision last year to fully offset we have been working hard to cut our energy use as far as practicable, and we will achieve the balance by buying carbon offsets in 2007/08.
