Our campus champions

Birmingham
I attended Birmingham University obtaining a degree in B.Comm (Accounting), graduating
in 1981.
I am a Corporate Finance Partner in the Birmingham office, specialising in Transaction
Services.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in January 2005, after undertaking a career with KPMG for
20 years, the last five years as a dedicated Transaction Services Partner. Within
12 months of joining BDO Stoy Hayward the Transaction Services team has trebled
in size with our main focus now on the mid-market arena, both corporates and Private
Equity Houses, with deal sizes in the region of £5m to £75m.
I spent three years recruiting students from Birmingham University into accountancy
when I graduated so it now seems a sensible idea to do it at BDO Stoy Hayward, albeit
with a bit more experience under my belt.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in London in 1998 as Tax Senior after training as a Chartered
Accountant in a small local accountancy practice in Birmingham. I am now a Tax Director
based in the Birmingham office.
I am truly passionate about the city and believe that it has a lot to offer in terms
of career opportunities, cultural diversity and family/social life. This is the
main reason that I wish to champion Birmingham University to ensure that students
really understand the opportunities available to them at BDO Stoy Hayward.
I attended the University of Birmingham and obtained a BSc Hons in Mathematics, graduating
in 1997.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in 2006 as Business Assurance Manager in our London office
specialising in Real Estate. Prior to joining I worked at Horwath Clark Whitehill
for over six years where I trained and qualified. After qualification I was promoted
to Manager, specialising in Charities and non profit organisations.
I chose to be a university champion for Birmingham as I have fond memories of my
time there and my qualifications and the people I met gave me a great start to my
career.
