Leeds
I attended the University of Leeds and obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Modern History,
graduating in 1995. I then sat for my CPE at the College of Law, London.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in January 2005 as a Supervisor within the Property group
and was promoted to Manager in October 2005. Prior to that I qualified at KPMG and
worked at Ernst & Young and a smaller mid-tier firm. My particular focus is on providing
tax advice to UK based investors seeking to acquire real estate around the world.
I have advised clients purchasing property in Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Japan,
Switzerland and Brazil and a fair amount of my time is spent discussing tax issues
with colleagues in a variety of BDO International offices.
I had a fantastic time at Leeds University and made life-long friends there. My aim
is to give an insight into working within a large accountancy firm, particularly
for those students who may never previously have considered it as a career option.
I attended the University of Leeds and obtained a masters degree in Communication
Studies, graduating in 2002.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in September 2002 entering the three year ACA graduate
scheme within the Business Assurance department in our Leeds office. Following qualification
in 2005 I was accepted onto the firm’s Post Qualified Development Programme
and embarked upon an 18 month series of secondments taking in Corporate Finance
(Lead Advisory), Business Restructuring and finally a seven month stint in Business
Assurance at BDO Seidman's New York office. I was promoted to Manager on my return
in June 2007 following successful completion of the Post Qualified Development Scheme.
Having been through the system during my time at Leeds University, I am very enthusiastic
about both the establishment itself and their ability to attract top quality individuals,
adding considerable value through their unique higher education process.
