Our campus champions
Manchester
I originally chose to become an accountant as a gateway to a professional business
career. My degree was actually Modern Languages (French and German) from which I
graduated with a 2:1 (Hons) from Leeds University in 1984.
I initially started my accountancy training in London with a large firm and joined
BDO Stoy Hayward in 2005 through a merger with another firm, Numerica. However,
this is my second stint at BDO, having previously been a partner in BDO's predecessor
UK firm in the 1990's, leaving then only because of another merger - so it's good
to be back!
In my current role I am a Business Assurance partner in BDO Stoy Hayward’s Manchester
office. I have over 20 years experience advising and working with entrepreneurial
companies across a range of industries with a particular focus on the property and
retail sectors. I am a member of the firm's national Real Estate and Retail sector
groups and I also have a number of international clients some of which are headquartered
in the North West, others overseas with operations over here so I occasionally use
my languages!
I have chosen to champion Manchester University as the Manchester office has close
links with the university and I look forward to building our profile on campus and
sharing my experiences at BDO Stoy Hayward.
