Oxford
I attended Oxford University (Lincoln College) where I obtained a BA (Hons) in Modern
History, graduating in 2000.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in September 2000 entering the three year ACA graduate
scheme within the Tax department. I transferred into Business Assurance after 18
months and qualified in 2003. I was promoted to Supervisor in September 2004, then
promoted to Manager in September 2005 and Senior Manager in April 2007. I will also
be undertaking a nine month secondment to our Corporate Finance department in January
2008.
At Oxford, it is easy to forget that there are employers out there that are not the
Big Four or the large banks and consultancy firms. I want to show Oxford graduates
that a career at BDO Stoy Hayward can provide everything that these organisations
offer and more, by treating its staff not just as a number but as a unique individual
who can bring their own contribution to our culture of fun, trust and mutual support.
I attended the University of Oxford, obtaining my first degree in Mathematics and
Computation, graduating in 1994. I had the pleasure of coming back eight years later
to undertake an MBA at the Said Business School.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in 2006 as a Manager in the Technology Risk Consulting
(TRC) unit of the Risk Advisory Service. Our team in TRC helps clients and audit
teams to understand and mitigate the audit and business risks arising from the use
of sophisticated IT systems. Prior to joining I undertook a variety of consulting
contracts through Resources Global Professionals for three years and worked at Deloitte
& Touche six years and Ernst & Young for two years.
I had a great time at Oxford and I would like to give something back by helping recruit
graduates into our firm that offers staff a great environment in which to develop
professionally.
I attended New College, Oxford, obtaining a degree in English Language And Literature,
graduating in 1985.
After qualifying as an ACA with BDO Stoy Hayward I transferred to HR on a short-term secondment. After ten years of service which I was made Partner and responsible for HR. I did a spell at Harvard Business School and then moved client-side to Management Consulting, specialising in management development and governance for owner managed businesses and entrepreneurs. I’m also a fellow at the London Business School. I’ve written four books, am at work on a fifth, and have pieces in the Nationals most weeks, so my English degree hasn't been entirely forgotten. I am now a Partner in Risk and Advisory Services.
I loved my time at Oxford, and love my time at BDO Stoy Hayward. Too many Oxford
graduates blindly follow each other into the Big Four. BDO Stoy Hayward is an alternative
that is qualitatively different. I'm keen to help spread the news.
