Our campus champions
Warwick
I attended Warwick University where I obtained a Mathematics degree, graduating in
1989.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in 2005 as a Director in the Corporate Finance department
in our Birmingham office. Prior to joining I worked in Bristol for Numerica Group
plc, an AIM listed accountancy firm for six years, having previously spent ten years
with PricewaterhouseCoopers where I trained and qualified in their London office.
I focus on originating deals for acquisitive companies and advising on acquisitions,
both in the UK and overseas. I am also responsible for running the firm’s
Mergers and Acquisitions Corporate Broking Service nationally. I have specialised
in corporate finance advisory work since 1992.
As a graduate of Warwick I have a natural interest in the University. The proximity
of our office to the University provides opportunities to work together more closely
and to promote BDO Stoy Hayward to graduates interested in a career with our firm.
My route into the accountancy profession started with gaining a distinction on the
Foundation Course in Accountancy at (what was) Sheffield City Polytechnic after
which I entered Articles with a leading City firm.
I joined BDO Stoy Hayward in 1990 and became a Tax Consultancy Partner. After spending
15 years in the Midlands region, I transferred to the London office where I am a
now the firms National Tax Technical Partner. I am primarily responsible for the
firm’s tax knowledge management, technical systems and support. I specialise in
corporate tax and corporate finance tax.
I have chosen Warwick University for a number of reasons - some years ago I gave
tax lectures there to undergraduates, and I regularly attend concerts at the Warwick
Arts Centre and like the 'feel’ of the campus.
