Life balance
Flexible working is a core part of the way we work.
Significantly improved mobile technology means that more and more of our people have the flexibility to utilise mobile working. We have invested £2 million in mobile technology, including laptops, Blackberrys, mobile phones and 3G cards.
There are numerous examples of people with different work patterns. Ones that suit both them and their clients. This includes working from home, starting and finishing work later, working during school term-time only and, in one case, taking a career break... to climb Mount Everest!
To cement this, the firm has introduced a flexible working toolkit which will ensure that all our people have the opportunity to work flexibly at some point in their career.
We were voted Accountancy Age Employer of the Year for 2004 and 2005 and Global Firm of The Year for 2006. And we are the only accountancy firm to appear in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2007, all awards recognising us for our flexible working options and benefits package.
Make no mistake, we work hard. But we also want our people to enjoy their time outside work too. Or as an employee commented in the Accountancy Age Awards survey:
“We are flexible in hours of work and are compassionate if there are problems at home. We want our staff to have a life balance. We understand that people have a life outside of work and encourage this.”
