Our people
What interests you about your role?
To me the most interesting thing about being a forensic accountant is that no day
is the same. One day I might be investigating a large corporate fraud, the next
day I might be involved in a high profile investigation into a divorce case, the
next day I might be producing a big document for some new work. I tend to meet a
lot of different types of people in my work, whether it be directors of large companies,
small businesses, solicitors, the police, other accountants or staff from BDO.
What opportunities do you have at the firm?
The most interesting thing I’ve done at the firm is I’ve gone a three
month secondment to go and work in our Brisbane office in Australia and then I travelled
around for a couple of months afterwards. In forensics itself I’ve attended
court on a number of occasions to go and see evidence being given, I’ve worked
on a couple of large money laundering cases and I’ve worked on a very high
profile investigation into the affairs of a well known company.
How are you involved in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)?
Within BDO I’ve been involved in a number of charity events. I’ve been
on sponsored walks in the Lake District, Scotland, Wales, the Peak District; BDO
have paid for the entrance fee for these and it’s been large organised events.
I’ve also helped organise a run each year with staff from the office to raise
money for a local charity. I’m also involved quite heavily in the corporate
social responsibility that BDO does which is helping to put something back into
the community.
