What we look for

We are looking for ambitious graduates with strong academic records and a genuine interest and awareness of us, BDO Stoy Hayward. We also look for leadership qualities and commercial awareness, as well as personalities.

We assess all candidates on the following criteria:

Our online application process allows us to see how you’ve performed in all of these areas – quickly.

As a general rule though, successful applicants are expected to match our academic entry requirements.

Entry requirements

Applicants must have the following to apply to the graduate scheme:

  • grade B in Maths and English at GCSE/ Scottish Standards or equivalent*
  • 280 UCAS points or equivalent** (excluding General Studies) - received or predicted

*If you have studied alternative academics, we will accept the equivalent in accumulated grades to UCAS points.

**If you have studied alternative academics, we will accept the equivalent in accumulated grades to UCAS points.

Extenuating circumstances

Our research shows there’s a marked correlation between good academic qualifications and success in professional exams. This is why we request that applicants meet our academic requirements. If you have extenuating circumstances that affected your grades, please detail this on your application form for us to review.

Work permits

BDO Stoy Hayward welcomes graduate applications from international candidates who require a work permit. If you do require a work permit, our immigration lawyers will first review your circumstances to advise on the likelihood of success of a work permit application. Work permits issued will be employer specific and will allow you to work for BDO Stoy Hayward in the UK for five years.

If our immigration lawyers advise that a work permit is likely to be issued, we will pursue a work permit application on your behalf – should you meet the criteria of every stage of our selection process. If our immigration lawyers advise that a work permit is unlikely to be issued, we will confirm this with you and your application will not be accepted. Our immigration lawyers’ advice in this regard will be final.

Please note our selection process involves attendance at a first round interview and a subsequent assessment event. Candidates are required to make themselves available to attend these recruitment selection events at a UK office. Travel expenses will be reimbursed to a maximum of £100.

As competition for these opportunities is intense we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
