A tour of Surrey and Kent Ride with illustrator Simon Spilsbury
BDOVELO was delighted to welcome over 30 riders to our final mid-week ride out of Bletchingley golf club near Godstone. The weather gods were with us as the early morning mist and drizzle burnt off and left us with a bright, slightly breezy autumn morning. As usual, we divided ourselves into a sport and a social group and agreed to meet at the Kingdom Coffee stop just outside Penshurst.
We rolled out of the golf club following leafy lanes just south of the downs through pretty Surrey and Kent villages, Including Penshurst, Hever and the delightfully named Pooting. As always the convivial networking pace occasionally accelerated to something with a little sting. “You know who you are!"
The final 10 miles seemed to fly by as riders clearly anticipated a really cold beer and supper at the golf club. We were pleased to welcome illustrator, Simon Spilsbury, who opened his creative mind to the “world of accountants” with both pen and poetry and we were delighted to raise £400 for Action Medical Research with the auction of two of his illustrations see www.studiospilsbury.com. Julian Wall from Cyclefit was also able to introduce us to the new 3-D printed, bespoke fit to your head helmet. Now there’s a couple of ideas for your Christmas list!
We look forward to seeing you either on the Denbies ride in October or at the Pinarello store in November for our Season Finale. Happy cycling!
