An evening with pro cyclist Harry Tanfield
So, as a heavily disrupted 2020 season comes to a close, at BDOVELO we decided to bring down the curtain on the year in some style, with an "Evening with Harry Tanfield”.
As promised, an "open and honest" conversation was guaranteed but those who joined the evening enjoyed a lot more and heard some fascinating insights into life in the peloton.
Harry led us through his formative years on two wheels, culminating in his participation at this year’s Vuelta. He lifted the veil on the peloton and gave some fantastic examples of how the character of the peloton varies from event to event.
In a moment of particular candour, Harry shared his experience of riding the L’Angliru, one of the most feared climbs in any grand tour, and his own realisation that big hills aren't his forte! Put him on the flat though and he fancies his chances.
A “quick-fire” round revealed some other interesting views but if you weren’t there on the night, you’ll have to watch the video (see below).
In closing, Harry shared with us the breaking news that he will be riding in the World Tour with Qhubeka Assos next season; we wish him well and hope to catch up with him as he plies his trade in 2021.
For those who missed the evening you can see an edited version here.
