We were delighted that over 40 people celebrated the BDOVELO 2018 season finale at BDO HQ, Baker Street last week.
The room was buzzing and with a refreshing drink in hand, we listened as our speakers enthralled our audience with stories from the cycling world.
Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race gave an animated tour of his career from the early days of working at IMG and starting up Participate Sports to the recent partnership between Human Race and ASO, organisers of the Tour de France. With tales of tacks and bull dogs at the Etape Caledonian, to meetings of great cycling minds and plans for the Tour de France in the UK, Nick certainly entertained the audience.
An adventure from across the pond brought Graham McGregor-Smith to the stage as he shared details of his 30 day challenge cycling from San Francisco to New York. Together with Simon his Velo Mechanic, Graham recalled the preparation, the immensely staggering scenery, the 30+ degrees heat and coping with sharing the road with those all American trucks. Graham shared a raft of anecdotes that left many of our audience pondering on their next challenge.
It was a fantastic opportunity to hear from these two speakers and to network with like-minded cyclists. A big thanks also to Mike Mellor of Quella who brought along some of his bikes and kit for people to admire.
Our 2019 calendar is now published so please do get those dates in your diaries as next year promises to be a cycling season not to miss.
