Season Opener 2020
Thursday 27th February saw the launch of BDOVELO’s 5th season and we were delighted to welcome over 70 guests to the Union Club in Soho for an evening of networking.
John Allert, Charlie Pym and Duncan Bradley from Team Bahrain McLaren found a window in their busy schedule to join us despite a busy – and successful – start to the cycling season. John gave us a unique insight into his own personal vision and motivations for becoming involved in the cycling world, wrapped up in a compelling history of McLaren. It was fascinating.
“A team built for tomorrow, with the respect for the past” gave those lucky enough to be in the room an understanding of the passion behind what it is to be a ”Racer”.
We wish Team Bahrain McLaren continuous success in the season ahead. I am sure we will be looking out for the “papaya” orange Le Col kit at the head of the peloton.
We also welcomed Matteo Cassina, whose passion for cycling stretched from his time as a boy growing up near Lake Como, his investment banking career at Saxo Bank sponsoring cycling teams, to his recent acquisition of Rouleur.
Whilst we might dream of it from time to time, it’s rare to hear stories of people who have such a passion for a particular bicycle that they aspire to own the company. Such was the passion that Matteo had for Passoni that he did just that. Chapeau!
The Union Club was a great venue to launch this season’s programme, which includes 7 rides; 4 out of golf clubs, 2 out of Denbie’s vineyard, and our first female invitational ride starting in Cranleigh. Our evening events will bring together a wonderful range of speakers and we hope that we can tempt you to become a member and enjoy a BDOVELO season to remember.
Sign up for our first ride of the season here.
