Season opener - Indoor Cycling Charity Challenge
We kicked off our fourth season with a highly competitive indoor racing challenge to support The Bike Project charity. A fantastic networking event filled with old and new members all supporting a brilliant cause.
To help run the event we were joined by the Rollapaluza event team, and their static Condor bikes. They hosted a team time trial knock out competition, meaning each team were guaranteed two rides. Alongside this we also ran an individual event, so everyone got the chance to ride. Riders were cheered on by others as they sprinted 250m and 500m. Congratulations to Colin Ross from The Bike Club who produced the fastest individual 250m sprint time of 11.19 seconds. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough for the team win, as the home team from BDO were the eventual champions. You can see the full results and various images from the event here.
Apart for the excellent networking opportunities everyone enjoyed, the other winners were the Bike Project who brought their own competitive team and who eventually finished runners up in the team competition. It was great to meet such an enthusiastic team and their founder, Jem Stein, gave a very insightful and passionate talk about the charity. As well as opportunities to donate and buy bikes, he discussed their successful bike buddy scheme, where ‘buddies’ would be matched with a refugee in their local area to help the refugee to build confidence on the bike.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening and we are looking forward to another successful season, starting with our evening networking event at the Army & Navy club on 28 February.
