Survey:

A Review of Social Media Usage in UK Local Government

15 June 2017

Social media has become embedded in the daily workings of local authorities across the country. The BDO Social Media Survey is an annual survey that provides a benchmark for local government social media use. The results of the survey are published in our report which reveals the current status of social media in local government, examples of innovation from the sector and provides practical solutions to support local authorities to maximise the potential of social media.

The focus of this year’s report, WhatsApp-ening in #Local Gov Social Media, is on future social media trends and how councils can be more effective on their social media platforms by learning from best practice. This year’s report displays that councils are more committed than ever to using social media, that there are some innovative examples of senior leaders using social media and that there is room for councils to be bolder in embracing new social media channels.
