BDO strengthens tax practice with senior appointments

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO has made four senior appointments to strengthen its growing tax practice.

The new appointments are designed to enhance leadership focus and, as part of the investment across key service lines, to further enable access to deep expertise and experience for all clients and audited entities throughout the UK.

David Ellis, a global employer services partner, becomes the new lead for people on BDO’s tax executive board which sets, monitors and drives the strategy for the firm’s tax practice.

Julia McCullagh takes on a new role as the firm’s national lead for corporate international tax services, reflecting the importance of international tax for corporate groups with overseas presence or trading.

Meanwhile, David Britton becomes the new national lead for UK corporate tax compliance and Michelle Wilson is appointed as the national lead for audit of tax.

Andy Butterworth, BDO’s head of tax said: “These new appointments will provide strong leadership across key areas of our growing tax business and ensure that we stay attuned to the evolving needs of our clients and audited entities. I would like to wish all our newly appointed leaders every success in their new roles.”

In the 2022/23 financial year, BDO’s tax business generated revenues of £225m, reporting growth of 13% with tax compliance, private client and risk advisory services in high demand.
