We are pleased to advise of a new session for HEI governors, which will run as a webinar on Wednesday 28 October.
Following a number of requests, we have widened this to be relevant for all Board members, Clerks and members of VCE. This session sits alongside the ‘The Effective (HEI) Audit Committee’ session on 9 September. These are two discrete and complimentary sessions and will, as ever, be updated to the morning of delivery (sometimes HE moves at quite a pace).
The impact on HEIs of the Government's strategy for COVID-19 has been immediate. Reaching into every HEI, multiple challenges arise, not least with the move to online learning as they remain open but without the usual face-to-face teaching. Brexit is (almost) a memory, and both risk registers and financial forecasts are unrecognisable compared with just a few months ago.
James Aston MBE, National Head of Education, will aim to articulate what good practice looks like, will bring together what Boards are looking at and give a perspective on the challenges and levers available to the OfS and Ministers. Drawing on our sector experience, he will use real examples and current issues being addressed by Boards and VCEs to bring matters to life.
Whilst the delivery platform is new, the format will be familiar for those who have attended the Audit Committee sessions, or sessions on Board Away days: a 45 minute session of reality checking / horizon scanning and then a question and answer session for 15 minutes.
