  • Summary

Join our upcoming Women Working in Development networking event, focused on self-advocacy.

This event will explore the challenges women in the sector face in advocating for themselves - whether it be to secure a position on a project, get a promotion or receive the recognition they feel they deserve.

Our speakers will address these challenges and share their experience overcoming them along with their experience in helping others do so.

Through the event we will explore techniques to advocate for a specific outcome as well as exploring how ‘internal barriers’ can prevent us from doing this. We will also explore perceptions of self-promotion and ask the question ‘do women need to advocate for themselves differently from men’?

Our Speakers

Our speakers will bring together perspectives from across the sector and include:
Laura Jump - CEO On Our Radar
Jo Kemp - Independent Consultant & Coach

15:00 - Registration and networking
15:30 - Panel discussion and Q&A

17:00 - Event close

Women Working in Development was established in July 2017 by BDO LLP and the Centre for Development Results in response to a concern about the lack of women’s representation at senior management level and the absence of dedicated women’s forums in the sector. Our aspiration is to provide a forum to connect women across the international development sector and to support talent development.
