Charity retailers share many of the UK's high streets with their commercial retail counterparts. Competing to attract consumers and grow their share of spending, they face many of the same headwinds; the continued growth of online shopping and fragile consumer confidence.
However, charity retailers also have their own unique advantages and challenges. They are able to compete on price and they are uniquely placed to respond to changing attitudes towards environmental sustainability and fast fashion. At the same time, they need to be mindful of their charitable objectives, while harnessing change and adopting a commercial mind-set in order to remain competitive.
Often a fundamental part of a local community, charity shops are a crucial touchpoint for a charity's brand. As charity relies on volunteers and donors for its income, the shops are key to its ability to attract and engage with those all-important people.
It has therefore never been more important to keep up to date with what is going on and benchmark your performance in order to thrive. Our Charity Retail Sales Tracker and our annual Charity Retail Forecasts Reports will help you do just that.
