I am a tax partner based in Reading. I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients, from owner managed start-ups to private equity backed groups and large multinationals, supporting them with their corporate and shareholder taxes.
Whilst I work with businesses in a variety of sectors, I have a particular focus on those in the life sciences sector where I lead BDO’s national life sciences tax team. I also regularly work with businesses that are growing, helping them and their shareholders to proactively manage their tax position and supporting them to prepare for and go through any M&A sales transaction.
I have a commercial and strategic outlook coupled with a breadth and depth of technical knowledge and experience from over 20 years in the tax field. For example, I have worked with FTSE100 clients in areas such as international tax structuring, M&A and tax risk, and also with early stage owner managed businesses to help them with their employee share plans, IP (intellectual property) taxes and early international expansion. I regularly use this breadth of experience to “conduct the orchestra” of tax and non-tax advisers and deal with potentially conflicting aspects to find a commercial and practical route forward.
I am CTA qualified, and also ACA qualified, having initially trained as an auditor. I also regularly speak at events on tax matters, plus have written for authored BDO and external publications.
In my spare time, I love to song write and play the guitar, as well as spend time walking (often with my two Siberian cats!) and gardening.
