Environmental Report 2021

This report provides a comprehensive view of BDO's performance and action on environmental matters for the year ending 30 June 2021.

To reduce our overall carbon footprint, we take care to embed environmental controls and practices into the daily management of the firm and have committed to maintaining carbon neutrality and going Net Zero by 2050 or sooner.

Annual Report 2020

2020 has been a year unique to any other we have experienced. Our annual results for the year ended 30 June 2020 reflect just three months of the impact of COVID-19, and can be broken down into two distinct periods: pre-lockdown and lockdown. 

The first nine months of the financial year (July 2019 – March 2020) showed strong growth for the firm, with BDO’s resolute focus on quality and client service combined with our Moore Stephens merger underpinning this success. The impact of COVID-19 and subsequent national lockdown, however, saw a reversal in this profitability. In the final three months of the financial year (April 2020 to June 2020), revenues and profits fell by 13% and 50% respectively year on year, equating to a £25m reduction in underlying business profits.

With further economic volatility on the horizon, lower levels of profitability look set to continue. However, as our pre-pandemic growth and post-pandemic resilience demonstrates, BDO is a business which has the fundamentals right. Our unwavering commitment to delivering world class services to our clients puts us in a strong position to weather the ongoing economic storm.
