Barack Group of Companies (“Barack”) is a collection of five separate legal entities that together operate eight KFC restaurants across Central London including Kings Cross, Camden and Vauxhall.

Barack was founded by husband and wife Javed and Nusret Hussain, and is now managed by Khawar Hussain. The transaction marks and end to Barack’s 35 years of trading as a KFC franchisee, having opened their first KFC restaurant in 1987.

BDO managed the sale process on behalf of the Barack shareholders, who successfully achieved a full exit.

“Barack selected BDO as our M&A advisors based on their deep sector experience, knowledge and recommendation by others.

We were extremely pleased with their service, project management skills and particularly how they unlocked potential deal issues during unprecedented times whilst protecting shareholder value.

We look forward to working with them again in future transactions.”

The transaction saw multi-brand operator Tahir Group expand to become the largest KFC operator in London, operating an enlarged estate of 41 restaurants across both London and the Midlands. The Group, which also operate the GDK and Starbucks brands, is headed by owner Fazan Tahir.

BDO oversaw the successful assignment of all seven property leases and the removal of Personal Guarantees from the Vendors.

“We’re delighted to see the Barack shareholders achieve a full exit from the target companies and wider KFC system. It was a pleasure working with the Barack team.”
