Financial Sector Consultancy

22 December 2016

The financial system is commonly viewed as the "life blood" of any country's economy and hence one of the prerequisites of a well-founded economy is an efficient and trusted financial sector. This encompasses banks, non-banking financial institutions, capital finance and commercial credit systems, micro-finance and regulatory authorities. Emerging market and transition economy countries face a wide range of issues in this key sector, including the establishment of institutions and procedures, and the need to restructure and refine existing organisations. In these circumstances the direct transfer of experience and skills from the developed world is often not possible due to existing conditions, technologies and practices and considerable creativity and local knowledge is required to develop workable and sustainable solutions.

Our experience

BDO's International Projects Group (IPG) has been intimately involved in financial sector restructuring in developing nations and emerging economies. Our financial sector team comprises consultants with direct experience in financial institutions, working closely with specialised banking and financial operations consultancies around the world to provide focused expertise in every aspect of financial sector operations, management and supervision.

We have advised National Governments and Central Banks in many countries on developing local financial systems and appropriate regulatory environments; local financial institutions on restructuring and operational issues; international commercial banks on developing country-and business-specific operations; and international financial institutions on various aspects of their operations

We combine best practice developed in major western financial institutions with an intimate knowledge of the local business and socio-political environment in many developing and transition regions including Central and Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as post-conflict countries such as Afghanistan.
