BDOVELO 2025 Season Launch | An evening with Renee McGregor

BDOVELO An evening with Renee McGregor

On Tuesday we saw the launch of BDOVELO’s 10th season, and a huge thank you to all those who have supported us on the journey.  For those who couldn't join us at the launch event, you missed a wonderful evening.  First up was an introduction from BDOVELO Chair, Chris Grove,  who welcomed our guests, our speaker, Renee McGregor and the team from Vidavii

Richard Best, MD of ICONIC Cycling, then gave us a quick overview of the calendar for 2025, which includes social rides in Richmond Park and other convenient locations, a trip to the Lee Valley Velodrome, longer fully supported rides in Surrey and Bucks, a tour of the Isle of Wight and evening events which will draw an eclectic mix of speakers.

BDOVELO is in very good health and so it was opportune to invite Renee to talk to us about her role supporting athletes across disciplines, from ultra running to ballet, with nutrition advice.  Renee is a leading sports dietician, specialising in athlete performance, RED's and the female athlete.  The event attracted a large number of female community members, as well as a slightly younger crowd than usual. A testament to our commitment to create an inclusive and accessible community for all.

Renee covered a range of topics, not least the role of influencers, celebrities and mercenary medics who sell themselves, and in some cases some dubious products, for the silver dollar.  Her ongoing and public spat with Zoe was illuminating.  Her advice touching real food, supplements, fasting and fuelling during events left us all much the wiser.  Cake, coffee, some bread and alcohol are apparently ok!  There were sighs of relief around the room…..  That was it....... talk over and back to the networking.

If you’d like to read a summary of the talk you can here and you can check out the BDOVELO: Season launch photo album here.

Renee's book "Fuel for Thought" will, I'm sure, make for a great read. It comes highly recommended by a number of our community members.

A final “thank you” to Quella bikes and Cyclefit for supporting the evening.  Oh, and for those who haven’t yet googled it, Beryl Burton rode for Morley Cycling Club in Yorkshire.

We look forward to seeing you out on the road….
