BDO appoints two partners to leadership team

Anna Draper and Kaley Crossthwaite will join BDO’s leadership team in July, replacing Wendy Walton and Jon Randall who are both retiring from the firm.

Audit partner, Anna Draper, joins the leadership team having spent the last three years as head of BDO’s offices in the South East region. Anna began working for BDO as a senior manager in 2007 and was promoted to partner in 2012 and regional lead partner in 2019, responsible for overseeing two offices consisting of almost 400 people.

Her role on BDO’s leadership team will see Anna focus on partner development and engagement, helping to plan the pipeline of future partners within the firm.

Kaley Crossthwaite takes on her new leadership role after spending the last three years as head of BDO’s Forensic and Valuation Services (FAVS), leading a national team of almost 200. She has been with the firm for more than 20 years, joining as manager and being promoted to partner in 2008.

Kaley’s remit within the leadership team will see her strengthen BDO’s continued focus on quality and risk management.

Paul Eagland, Managing Partner of BDO, commented on the appointments:

“I am incredibly pleased to announce our new leadership team members. I will also take the opportunity to thank both Wendy and Jon for their invaluable contributions to BDO in their time with the firm.

“Anna and Kaley have already proven their leadership capabilities, both successfully leading large teams as well as continuing to advise and support clients within their respective areas of the business.

“Our commitment to high quality and the development of our talent continue to be priority areas for the leadership team. I have confidence that Anna and Kaley will help us succeed in these areas to benefit both our people and our clients.”

Wendy Walton retires from her role at BDO having joined the firm as a school leaver apprentice 35 years ago, later specialising in private client services. She was promoted to partner in 2000 and global head of private client services in 2006. Wendy joined BDO’s leadership team when Paul Eagland took on the role of Managing Partner in 2016, with responsibility for partner engagement and development.

During her career at BDO, Wendy has received numerous industry awards including being named Spear’s Accountant of the Year, one of ePrivateClient’s 50 Most Influential Private Client Advisers, Mentor of the Year at the Inspiring Women in Business awards by Management Today, and winning the Citywealth Powerwomen Career Achievement Award as well as Leader of the Year and Woman of the Year at the 2020 Women in Finance and Accountancy Awards.

BDO’s Head of Transformation, Jon Randall, also retires from his role, having joined in 2019 when the firm merged with Moore Stephens LLP. Prior to this, Jon held the position of chief operating officer at Moore Stephens LLP for five years, in addition to working in several other senior leadership positions, having started his career as a tax adviser.

Jon played an instrumental role in planning and facilitating the successful merger of the two firms. Subsequently, he led the firm’s COVID-19 working group as BDO shifted to operating as a fully-remote workforce during the pandemic, and latterly oversaw the agile-working model the firm has since implemented.
