Bennie Steenkamp

I am a Partner in Digital who leads the Cloud and Infrastructure stream. I specialise in helping our clients on their Digital journey and realising their technology infrastructure transformation objectives. I enable clients to implement fit for purpose IT foundations to facilitate new business systems, enable the power of cloud services and ultimately meeting their business objectives.

Working on the buy-side of a technology carve out for a long standing client in the intellectual property legal sector, I assisted the client in ring-fencing the primary IT platform and underlying infrastructure. I assisted in providing the client with a migration plan including all the requirements required for the carve-out to stand on it's own outside of it's current parent company. The client was so pleased with the work that they also requested us to perform the technology implementation, migration and re-platform work and BDO continues to be their primary IT managed service provider. We continue to innovate alongside them, and now also their parent company, as they start implementing agentic AI solutions. I am also a keen technologist and part of Digital's AI Steering Committee.

I currently lead on a priority AI innovation to automate IT infrastructure assessments leveraging agentic AI. I see AI integration as becoming a vital component of our business and will continue to drive these innovations and have fun whilst doing it.

Outside of work, my wife and I are keen technical divers and enjoy both recreational and deep technical dives. There is just something about the calmness and silence of the debts that is both exhilarating and peaceful at the same time. When I'm not in the water, I've got a son and a German Shepard which keeps me on my toes demanding at least two long walks a day. I also enjoy cooking and am an avid pit master enjoying long BBQs and cooking for friends.
