I am an Audit Partner and National head of Charities within BDO’s Not for Profit group, leading the delivery of audit and advisory services for BDO UK. I have over 20 years’ experience of advising charities and social enterprises on multilocation and complex engagements. I love the diversity the charity sector brings to my work - no two clients are the same, and seeing the value we bring to help them achieve the best for their beneficiaries, especially during difficult times, is very rewarding.
I am the audit partner for several of the largest and best known international and national UK charities. I support my clients on a wide range of issues, including external audit, assurance frameworks, rethinking their strategy and governance reviews.
I have had the privilege of working with some of the sector’s best known names, including RSPCA, WaterAid, RNIB, Salvation Army International Trust, Parkinson’s UK, the Royal Foundation, and Dogs Trust, to name a few. Before joining BDO I was Head of Charity Technical at a Big Four firm and have undertaken secondments with charities covering Finance Director and executive roles.
After 7 years I recently stepped down as the treasurer of the Association of Chief Executives for Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO). I am a trustee and finance and audit committee member at The School of Social Entrepreneurs. I have been involved in setting up a small environmental charity, where I sat on the Board as the Treasurer, and was also a trustee of a small domestic violence charity in London for five years.
I sit on the ICAEW charities’ committee and the SORP engagement strand, staying close to emerging charity reporting developments and the regulator.
I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my 5 year old daughter, attending live music concerts and festivals, and relax doing reformer pilates.
