Martin has been a partner in the firm (including PKF) since 2000 and is Lead Partner for BDO in Scotland. He has over 20 years' experience of auditing and advising a wide range of clients across many sectors ranging from plcs, large groups and owner-managed businesses to not for profit entities and professional bodies. Martin leads the BDO Charities Group in Scotland and also has significant experience in the Healthcare sector, acting for leading clients in these sectors. In addition to his role as an audit partner, he has carried out a number of advisory assignments including governance reviews, facilitating risk workshops and treasury management reviews. Martin has spoken at various conferences organised by ICAS, the WS Society and SCFG amongst others. He also served a term on the Business Policy Committee at ICAS.
Martin has held a number of voluntary appointments. He is an active member of his local community and was previously chair of the local primary school Board as well as President of Musselburgh Rugby Club. In addition, Martin was a board member and chair of the Audit Committee of Castle Rock Edinvar Housing Association for nine years and was also company secretary of the Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA) for seven years.
