Paul Knight, Tax Partner, Not for Profit

I am a Tax Partner and lead our national Not for Profit and Public Sector tax teams. I have over 22 years’ experience of advising charities, social housing organisations, higher education providers, membership organisations and public sector bodies on a broad range of tax issues. It’s a great privilege to work with so many organisations that make a real difference in society, helping them manage their tax affairs appropriately and add significant value to their operations.

I specialise in working with not for profit and public sector bodies. For charitable organisations I help my clients effectively manage the application of the charity tax exemptions, including the effective operation of group structures. I provide a lot of advice to the social housing sector, working on major property transactions and regeneration schemes. I also support Boards and senior executives on the management of tax governance in their organisations. In addition I also provide advice on the Gift Aid scheme, helping clients maximise the impact of this valuable relief.

My clients include many of the UK’s best known charities, housing providers, universities and other not for profit or public sector organisations.

I am an active member of the Charity Tax Group and have close links to the National Housing Federation and the British University Finance Directors’ Group.

I enjoy reading and writing, spending time with my teenage children, and going on long walks with my dog.

I provide ad hoc support to a number of rugby clubs, supporting on governance and the occasional tax issue.
