Steve Le Bas

I have over 30 years' experience as an accountant and auditor. I have led the BDO Southampton office since 2024 and have led the Southampton audit department since 2020.

Although I specialise in the motor sector, I've worked with a wide range of audited entities with turnover ranging from £20m to over £1bn, from owner-managed businesses to PE-backed and listed entities.

I am a member of the firm's motor retail team, bringing together colleagues from tax, corporate finance, business restructuring and risk assurance services. With over 20 years' industry experience in motor trade, I ensure clients fulfil their statutory duties while providing support and advice to the sector. I have also assisted in due diligence assignments for prospective motor trade purchasers and refinancing discussions with funders. Our team produces several industry-leading publications including the Motor 150 report and motor salary survey.

I am also a member of the firm’s sport sector group, although my focus is the provision of a quality audit I work with colleagues across a number of streams to provide advice to the clients in this sector.
