In East Anglia, BDO serves a diverse range of organisations across industries, leveraging our strong local expertise and knowledge as well as the breadth and depth of resources of a large global accountancy network.

East Anglia as a whole may not have been hit as hard during the pandemic as some of the other regions, but it has still had a huge impact. Our latest survey results paint the picture of renewed optimism in the region and a shift in focus.

In the latest edition of our monthly Rethinking the Economy survey, 73% of business surveyed in East Anglia already receive private equity investment, and this has come since the onset of the pandemic, a further 30% said they are not actively seeking an investor.

Some more changes are ahead for East Anglian businesses as in the next three to six months they plan to grow their workforce compared to what it was pre-pandemic (53%), to merge with or acquire another company (43%), and to seek new international markets (40%).

As we head away from COVID restrictions, 46% believe it will take 7-12 months for their business to return to pre-pandemic revenues, in part this could be down to the fast that 66% say the business has grown a lot since the restrictions relaxed and recruitment demands cannot be met.
