Iain Henderson begins term as BDO Senior Partner

Iain Henderson has today (1 October 2026) begun his term as Senior Partner at BDO UK & Ireland, following his election by the firm’s equity partners earlier this year.

Iain succeeds Matthew White, who has completed the maximum two four-year terms as Senior Partner for the firm.

Alongside his role as Senior Partner, Iain also takes on the role of BDO UK’s International Liaison Partner, representing the firm across BDO’s $11bn global network.

As Senior Partner, Iain will now chair the firm’s Oversight Board, the most senior governance body for the firm, with responsibility for ensuring effective governance and oversight across the £1bn accountancy and business advisory organisation. He will work closely with BDO’s four Independent Non-Executives, providing constructive challenge and ensuring robust decision making to support the firm’s long-term success.

Iain has more than 30 years’ experience auditing public and private multinational businesses and has held a number of leadership and governance positions at BDO. Most recently, he led BDO UK’s US audit team and was the UK Coordinating Partner for BDO’s US member firm.

Iain Henderson, Senior Partner at BDO UK & Ireland, said: “Over the past few months, I have spent a great deal of time working alongside Matt White, listening and learning, and bringing even greater clarity to my purpose and priorities as I take on the role.

“The profession continues to change rapidly, driven by evolving regulation, new operating models and advances in technology, alongside growing expectations around quality, trust, sustainability and serving the public interest. Strong and effective governance is critical in helping us navigate this evolving landscape and make the right decisions for our people and the long-term success of our business.

“I am looking forward to working with our partners, people and governance bodies as we continue to build on the strong foundations already in place.”
