Risk Advisory Services

Executive summary

I lead our Risk Advisory Services team in Scotland and work with organisations to strengthen governance, risk management, compliance, internal controls and internal audit. People come to me for practical advice that helps them manage risk, improve performance and build confidence in their control environments. As part of the national leadership team, I help shape and deliver our governance and assurance services across Scotland and the wider UK.

I support organisations in improving processes, strengthening internal controls and enhancing risk management maturity. My experience spans internal audit function design, quality assessments, transformation programmes and the delivery of co-sourced and fully outsourced internal audit services. I work across a range of sectors, with particular expertise in Government and Infrastructure. Over the past 20 years, I have developed deep knowledge of the Scottish public sector, leading projects focused on strategy, change, risk, cost reduction and service improvement alongside my core assurance work.

I serve as outsourced Head of Internal Audit for several large public bodies and have held a number of governance roles, including positions on Audit and Risk Committees and the Advisory Audit Board of the Scottish Parliament. Whether helping an organisation strengthen its governance framework or improve the effectiveness of its internal audit function, I focus on delivering practical recommendations that support better decision-making and stronger public services. I also enjoy connecting people across the sector, sharing ideas and promoting good practice.

Outside work, I enjoy running with my dogs, playing music and cooking for family and friends. I am naturally curious and always looking for opportunities to learn something new, whether through reading or developing a new practical skill.
