Tech Nation Rising Stars 2.0 – The Grand Final
The journey to becoming a Tech Nation Rising Star started back in November 2019 for over 340 ambitious, entrepreneurial early-stage tech companies across the UK.
The prize at stake was the opportunity to benefit from pitch training, advice from experts at BDO and a coveted spot to pitch at the prestigious Tech Nation Rising Stars 2.0 Grand Final that took place in London on 12 February 2020.
33 Semi-Finalists were whittled down to 20 businesses that pitched at the Grand Final, and today we’re proud to announce the final 10 that can from now on, refer to themselves as Tech Nation Rising Stars 2.0 winners – the cream of the UK’s early stage tech companies.
Mark Sykes, BDODrive Partner and judge at this year’s Grand Final adds: “The competition this year was fierce. Many of the companies featured are focused on industries ripe for disruption – including car leasing, e-commerce and renewable energy – to name a few.
“The market potential for these businesses is huge and BDO is proud to support this year’s Tech Nation Rising Stars 2.0 as they seek to capture market share, build high performance teams and securing finance for growth.”
BDO Digital Disruptor Award
At the Grand Final, we presented the inaugural ‘BDO Digital Disruptor Award’. The aim of this award is to champion the business that has the potential to change the way we work, or think, in the future, having gained traction in the market and generated demand for their products and services.
Congratulations goes to the three organisations that made the shortlist for the award: IMGeospatial, Urban Chain and Foundries.Io.
We’re delighted to give the award to Urban Chain for the sterling work they are doing to democratise and optimise the energy market. You can check out more about Urban Chain at their website here.
Mark Sykes, BDODrive Partner comments: “What we liked most about Urban Chain’s model is the fact it empowers people. By giving back the benefits of renewable microgeneration, the community can directly access the economic benefits.
We feel there’s potential for this technology to accelerate the renewable agenda whilst making a significant social impact by bringing savings to those needing it and democratising renewable energy.”
